On the eve of the opening of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, author and historian Ric Murphy joined his mentor and family friend, Charles McGee—one of the celebrated Red Tail Pilots of World War II—at the Tuskegee Airmen exhibit. Together, they honored Murphy’s cousin, Leo R. Gray, whose dedication helped bring the historic Red Tail aircraft to the museum, ensuring that the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen would inspire future generations.
